Penny Siqueiros,
former coach and player at Florida State, was appointed the first Emory
University head softball coach in the summer of 1998. In seven seasons at
Emory, Siqueiros has amassed a career record of 215-74 (.744 winning
percentage) with two softball World Series appearances, two NCAA regional
championships, four NCAA tournament berths and three conference titles. She
ranks 14th among all active NCAA Division III coaches for best career
winning percentage. Throw out Siqueiros' 7-14 record in 1999, the team's
first season of varsity competition, and her win percentage jumps to .776,
which would be fifth among active coaches. In 2003, the team was ranked No.
1 in the nation for four weeks before finishing fourth at the Division III
World Series and fourth in the final NFCA poll. Emory compiled a 38-6
record, setting a school record with an .863 season win percentage. Emory
won the NCAA regional championship for a second consecutive year and the
conference title for the third year in a row. (Courtesy of
