Steve Tamborra is in his eighth year as Assistant Player Development
Coach at Georgia Tech. He oversees the Yellow Jackets' strength and
conditioning program for baseball, developing and implementing strength
training regimes for each of Tech's student-athletes. Tamborra works with
Champions to help develop it's Strength and Speed Programs.
Tamborra joined the Tech and Champoins staff in November, 1999, after
five years in a similar capacity at Florida State where he worked with the
baseball and football teams from 1994-99.
Tamborra earned a Bachelor of Science in Nutrition and Fitness from
Florida State in 1994, a Master of Science in Athletic Administration from
Florida State in 1996, and is currently pursuing a Master of Science in
Biomechanics from Georgia State.
Tamborra is a certified strength and conditioning coach by the Collegiate
Strength and Condition Coaches Association, a certified strength and
conditioning specialist by the National Strength and Conditioning
Association, a certified health/fitness instructor by the American College
of Sports Medicine and a certified club coach by USA Weightlifting.
Tamborra is married to the former Stacy Venable, a pitcher for the
Florida State softball team from 1997-99, and the couple has one daughter,
Malayna Rae, born March 2, 2005.
